The last book I finished was Waterland by Graham Swift. I tracked this book down because I spent a little bit of time based in Ely when I was in the UK and I knew this book was set in the Fens. It is a part of the UK I have been reading more about. I chased up a copy of the County Series on 'Cambridgeshire, Huntingtonshire and the Isle of Ely' which I have also been reading.
I am currently reading 'Weymouth Sands' by John Cowper Powys. I enjoyed reading his book Wolf Solent last year so tracked down some of his other books and also an autobiography. When I was in Wales I visited his homes in Blanau Festinniog and Corwen and met a neighbour who knew him as a child and who had some mementoes to show me and has since written to me.
I am also rereading 'The Parables of Peanuts' and 'The Gospel According to Peanuts' by Robert Short, two books which use the peanuts comics to explore Christianity.
